How Technology Is Changing Fence Building Quotes

Once upon a time, you called up a bunch of fence builders, had each come to your property, and asked them for a quote for the fence you wanted. It gave you a wide variety of quotes allowing you to see just what it would cost to install your fence. Now, technology has brought the art of providing fence construction quotes all the way into the future. When you want a contractor to provide an estimate for a fence, he/she provides you with a link to technology that will blow your mind. Here is how that technology works and the different ways you can play around with it.

Where the Link Takes You

The link these contractors give you take you to a website that asks you to punch in your address. After you do that, the site opens to an aerial view of your home in real time. It might feel a little invasive and awkward, but what the software does next is nothing short of incredible.

Draw Your Fence Line

While you are looking at the aerial view of your property, the software asks you to draw lines using your mouse on the screen where you want the fence to go. No measuring is needed because the software does that for you. You can also draw in single and double gate areas, which the software will add to the estimate and calculate for you later. If you are content with the lines you have drawn onscreen, you hit the "continue" button, which then moves you to the next screen.

Pick Your Fencing Style and Materials

Next, the software asks you to choose the type of fencing (wood, vinyl, etc.), the style of fencing (full privacy, semi-private, etc.), the color of fencing materials (white, black, custom color), and the accessories (post caps, light post caps, solar post caps, etc.). Pick your gates, too. After you do all of the above, you hit "enter" to get your quote. Voila! Instant quote, no people involvement, no appointments to make and keep, no measurements needed — the software the fence builder linked you to does all of the work for you. The best part is that if you do not like the quote, you can go back and either change a few things or change all of your selections, including where you want the fence installed, and try again. You will get a different price quote for everything you change, and you can play with the software until you get something that fits your budget and you like what you have chosen.

About Me
Getting Your Fence Repaired

After a windstorm damaged our fence, we knew that we had to do something to get things fixed. Our broken fence made our property look terrible, and it was really embarrassing. I knew that we needed to do something to improve things, so we started looking around for fence contractors. I found a local business that had a reputation for offering quality services, so I hired them to come out and take a look. To my surprise, they were able to fix our fence in under an hour, and I was really impressed with their help. This blog is all about getting your fence repaired the right way the first time around.
